A hybrid of McIntosh and Ben Davis released from the Geneva, New York Agricultural Research Station in 1898. Beautiful ruby red fruit is juicy and has a delicious honey sweet and vinous flavor, showing its McIntosh parentage. Pure white flesh doesn't brown, making them excellent for salads. Great for fresh eating, pies and sauce, it is considered to be one of the great gourmet northern apples. Ripens in mid-September. Cold hardy apples grow in zones 4-8.
